AN HOUR FOR OUR PLANET – YEAR 2012

Planetary campaign `Hour for our Planet` in Nis Fortress was celebrated with the gathering of many representatives of organizations of civil societies- EKOpolis net, Green net of the City of Nis, organizations of local governments of Mediana, Palilula and Pantelej municipalities. With symbolical turning off of decorative lights in the Fortress of Nis, Nis University building, City Administration business buildings of city municipalities, Regional economic chamber with organized programme – performance of young people and actors of National theatre in Nis, supported by ED Jugoistok, public communal enterprises of the City, media houses, campaign Hour for our Planet also this year in Nis had expected result. On the way of saving energy and reducing consequences of climate changes the participants of this action sent the message to the public `it is certainly possible to change the daily habits for the god of our planet and ourselves living on it`.

Starting from 2009, when this action was first organized in Serbia and Nis, the number of cities and municipalities that support the action has grown continuously. Over 40 cities and municipalities joined Serbia in global action in 2011 and on the global level over 5,200 cities from 135 countries from all parts of the world.
